Terms of Use
These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Family Business Academy platform ("Platform"), operated by Family Business Academy ("we", "us", or "our"). By accessing or using the Platform, you agree to be bound by these Terms.
If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the Platform.
1. Eligibility
The Platform is intended for individuals who are 18 years of age or older, or students accessing the Platform under institutional supervision with appropriate consent. By using the Platform, you represent that you meet these eligibility requirements.
2. Purpose of the Platform
The Platform provides research-backed educational tools, assessments, learning modules, and resources designed to support family business owners, next-generation leaders, advisors, educators, and facilitators. The content is intended for informational and educational purposes only.
The Platform does not provide legal, financial, psychological, or professional advisory services. Nothing on the Platform constitutes professional advice. For specific legal, tax, governance, or family therapy matters, you should consult a qualified professional.
3. Permitted use
Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to access and use the Platform for your personal or institutional educational purposes. You agree to:
- Use the Platform only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms.
- Not attempt to copy, distribute, modify, or create derivative works of Platform content without our written permission.
- Not use automated tools, scripts, or bots to scrape, extract, or index Platform content.
- Not impersonate another person or misrepresent your affiliation with any institution.
- Not attempt to interfere with or disrupt the Platform's infrastructure, servers, or security.
- Not use the Platform to transmit any unlawful, harmful, or objectionable content.
4. Account and session data
Using the Platform requires creating a free account with your name, email address, and a password. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your password and for all activity that occurs under your account. You agree to notify us immediately if you become aware of any unauthorized access to your account.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate access where we have reasonable grounds to believe these Terms have been violated.
5. Intellectual property
All content on the Platform — including text, assessment frameworks, graphics, videos, and design — is owned by or licensed to Family Business Academy and is protected by applicable copyright and intellectual property laws.
You may print or download reasonable portions of Platform content for your own personal, non-commercial educational use, provided you retain all copyright notices and do not reproduce the content for commercial purposes or public distribution without our prior written consent.
Any academic frameworks, models, or research referenced on the Platform are attributed to their original authors and institutions. These attributions do not imply any endorsement by those authors of the Platform.
6. Third-party links and content
The Platform may contain links to external websites, publications, or resources (such as Amazon book pages or academic journals). These links are provided for your convenience only. We do not control, and are not responsible for, the content or practices of those third-party sites. Accessing a third-party site is at your own risk.
7. Institutional access
Universities, family offices, facilitation programs, and other organizations that access the Platform under an institutional arrangement are subject to a separate institutional agreement. Where such an agreement exists, it takes precedence over these Terms for the aspects it explicitly governs.
8. Disclaimer of warranties
The Platform and all content are provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis without any warranties, express or implied. We do not warrant that:
- The Platform will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of viruses or harmful components.
- The results of using the Platform's assessments or tools will be accurate or suitable for any particular purpose.
- Any errors in the Platform will be corrected.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
9. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Family Business Academy and its founders, contributors, and partners shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, the Platform — even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.
Our total liability for any claim arising out of your use of the Platform shall not exceed the amount you have paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim (or, if you have not paid anything, USD $100).
10. Privacy
Your use of the Platform is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. By using the Platform, you consent to our data practices as described in the Privacy Policy.
11. Changes to the Platform and Terms
We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the Platform (or any part of it) at any time without notice. We may also update these Terms from time to time. The updated date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Your continued use of the Platform after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.
12. Governing law
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United Arab Emirates. Any disputes arising in connection with these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of the UAE, unless otherwise required by applicable law in your jurisdiction.
